A Song for You

Standard

Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt is to use five song titles from a random playlist in a poem. I already had a shuffled playlist from one of my favourite artists going so I hit play and used the next five song titles (in bold). Bonus points if you know who the artist is!

I was gonna write a song for you
Thanks for being stronger than me
To get the words, to make the rhyme
I had to squint against the glare
Look behind the bright persona
It’s time, I said, to know you now

That view of you sent me flying/

Cherry-picked were my vistas
Rose-coloured, my glasses were
What I saw: just another mister
Magic spells were cast by me
I think I’ll write a song for you
Thanks for being here with me
