After the Jump

Standard

Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt was to write a terza rima. These prompts (read: challenges) are wonderfully stimulating but also time consuming and I didn’t think I would have time to apply the prompt to today’s poem. But, as you can see, I’ve done it with just an hour to spare. Yay me 🙂

At the time when we were young
My sister and I roamed free.
Nature’s gifts we played among

By the house, there was a tree.
We thought we had the greatest luck
From the roof there was much to see.

But sister dear, you can’t be stuck
Come down from there right now.
You mustn’t cry or we’ll be struck

Leap from that wretched bough.
With the promise of being caught
She trusted my solemn vow.

That day, a lesson we were taught
The importance of exit strategy.
About the blame, we must have fought

But now we recall more affably.
